Giving Thanks

CCAI wishes everyone a happy Thanksgiving!

This year and every year we are especially thankful for our good fortune to work with fantastic artists, brilliant cultural animators, and wonderful northern Nevada arts supporters!

We hope to see you all at the 2nd Annual CCAI Holiday Party Wednesday, December 3!

The Gift of Art & Community

WE may be just a little bit biased, but we can't imagine a better holiday gift than a CCAI membership!

A twelve-month membership makes for a great, unexpected surprise treat that helps build the arts, culture and community in northern Nevada.

CCAI memberships come in just about all sizes, from a dime-a-day category for artists/students, to the-sky's-the-limit option for our major benefactors. Memberships are tax-deductible, and feature a range of attractive benefits. But best of all, a CCAI membership gives the warm happy feelings that come with supporting community and creativity!

And of course feel free to treat yourself and family, as well as your friends and associates to a membership!

And thanks for your support of CCAI - your arts organization!

[Note that although the photograph above accurately represents the enthusiasm and collective spirit of CCAI's growing membership, it is actually of a campaign rally in Portland, Oregon. Thanks to GC for the scouting help!]

3-D Glasses Provided!

[In the spirit of political canvassing, we're sending out a second notice of Wednesday's upcoming event at the Carson City Library, this time with a reminder that there is no need to bring your own 3-D glasses. These will be provided by CCAI.

No kidding. Professor Goldbaum will be demonstrating some spiffy emerging online 3-D display technologies during his talk!]

Tom Judd
"The Chalkboard Jungle"

mixed media paintings

"Tom Judd creates paintings of birds, plants and landscapes upon collaged fragments of antique floral wallpaper, old maps, botanical prints, maps, and sewing pattern paper. The resulting superimposed images are an exploration of the effect that change of context has upon a found object, often revealing the contradictory emotions that an artifact from an earlier time may have on the modern viewer. Describing his work, Judd says he combines "landscape, still life, patterns and figures to imitate the eclectic nature of our memories.""

exhibition continues through December 6.
