"The View from Kvarner Bay: Art in Croatia"


During the week of March 30, CCAI is proud to welcome Croatian Artist|Curator Arts activist Nadija Mustapic. During her week-long stay in northern Nevada, she will meet with artists, and visit local schools to give presentations On April 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Library, she'll give a public presentation on contemporary Croatian art as part of CCAI's Nevada Neighbors signature program of illustrated talks.

Earlier in the day on April 1, she will be a featured guest at FWAC!, CCAI's monthly 'First Wednesday's Arts Coffee," which meets at the Bliss Mansion at the corner of Robinson and Elizabeth Streets in historic Carson City, across from the Governor's Mansion. Artists and arts enthusiasts are enthusiastically invited to attend.

"The Society invites you to a free film series in the changing gallery at 7:00 pm on the third Tuesday of each month. After Dark will feature a selection Nevada based themed films.

To the Last Man is a Zane Grey story about the Hayden-Colby feud that moves from Kentucky to Nevada. The head of the Hayden family tries to avoid more killing but the inevitable showdown has to occur, complicated by Lynn Hayden & Ellen Colby's plans to marry. Shirley Temple has a small part.

Railroad Rhythms from the Little Toots


Back by popular demand, Fremont Elementary School's Little Toots will present a program of railroad music at the Museum.

Join Ms. Sandra Irvins and Fremont's second grade student chorus in rousing renditions of railroad songs that have been sung and inspired by the men and women who worked on the railroad. It's a Museum annual tradition that you just can't miss!

This will be held at the museum's Jacobsen Interpretive Center. Regular museum admission charges apply. For more information, please call the Museum, 687-6953.

A call to Action


"The challenges facing our communities today are formidable – it is no longer business as usual. Now is the time for Nevada’s cultural leadership to champion a vision that invests in people and the places they live; and promotes the creative industry’s essential role for our state.

OASIS 2009 will focus on issues that address today’s economic realities as well as topics that are consistently relevant for arts administrators, artists and trustees/board members. From fundraising, advocacy and branding to creative markets, artnerships, and surviving and even thriving during a crisis, the presentations will be of value. After lunch at the National Automobile Museum, a panel of visionary speakers will challenge Nevada’s cultural community to provide the leadership necessary to transform today’s crisis into tomorrow’s catalyst for change.
