"Blue Skies & Green Vistas: Artists and the Environment

Nevada Neighbors, the Capital City Arts Initiative's ongoing series of illustrated public talks, presents Mark NeuCollins.

In his talk, Mr. NeuCollins will discuss art as connected with the environment. His interest in conservation and the environment have led to research discoveries that he will present. He comments: "Understanding is an evolutionary process, and the creation of artwork is a journey of discovery."

"True North: Canadian Artists and the Environment

Nevada Neighbors, the Capital City Arts Initiative's ongoing series of illustrated public talks, returns this fall with Lorraine Gilbert

In her talk, Ms. Gilbert will highlight the work of contemporary Canadian artists focusing on environmental concerns. As a veteran of many summers working as a tree planter, she has a first hand connection to her native Canada, and to the complexity of the interplay of humans and nature

“True North” is presented in conjunction with “Once (Upon) a Forest,” Lorraine's exhibition at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery.

Nevada Neighbors Wednesday February 20 - 7 p.m.

This week - Wednesday February 20 at 7 p.m., the first of our 2009 Nevada Neighbors presentations, featuring Regina, Saskatchewan curator Brenda Cleniuk. Brenda is the director of Neutral Ground, a trail-blazing, Candian artist-centered space.

In her talk, "True North," Brenda will highlight some of Canada's most innovative contemporary art projects.
