CCAI Artists In Education Program has begun a collaboration with Carson City’s new United Latino Community organization by giving after-school art workshops for middle and high schoolers at ULC. Artist and CCAI alum Jonathan Farber teaches this semester’s monthly art classes to the teens as an addition to ULC’s after-school teen mentoring and study program.

CCAI is delighted to work with the United Latino Community and gives special thanks to its staff and to its Director Jessica Paz-Cedillos.

We are delighted to present an image from the CCAI Artists In Education Program at Mark Twain Elementary School. UNR grad student Amerique Powell and CCAI staffer Christel Passink are teaching after-school art workshops for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders during March and April.

The image: student creating her art in the torn-paper self-portraits workshop; the art history section of the lesson showed students examples of artists’ portraits from the early 20th century avant-garde.

We give special thanks to Mark Twain Elementary School and the Carson City School District for their collaboration with CCAI.
