Justin Favel: COUNTYCENTER

An alumni of CCAI's recent spring exhibition, The Radiant City, Justin Favela incorporates humor and art history into this site-specific sculpture installation in the Rotunda Gallery. Borrowing from works in the public art collection at CityCenter, the artist re-imagines these objects for the employees and visitors of the Clark County Government Center. CityCenter’s permanent collection of 20th and 21st century art features works by internationally acclaimed artists. Justin Favela’s COUNTYCENTER features mixed media cardboard works that cover Maya Lin’s Silver River, Frank Stella’s Damascus Gate I, Jenny Holzer’s Las Vegas, and more; all have been appropriated and modified for the Government Center site.

Last Two Weeks for The Radiant City Exhibition

This is the last two weeks to see The Radiant City Work by 5 Las Vegas Contemporary Artists: Catherine Borg, Justin Favela, Noelle C. Garcia, Emily Kennerk, Wendy Kveck. With an image taken at the February opening reception, we invite you to stop by the CCAI Courthouse Gallery to see the show; the gallery is open to the public 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. The exhibition will close Friday, May 13, 5pm.

We extend special thanks to the Carson City Courthouse and the City of Carson City for their partnership with CCAI.

Reign of Glass

"Erin Stellmon's work has always been particularly relevant within the context of Las Vegas, as it emerges directly from our culture of neon signage, suburban landscapes, the history of the atomic test-site, implosions of classic landmark casinos and her most recent explorations into CityCenter. However, the iconography of her work carries not only historical weight, but also becomes symbolic of the broader psychic landscape, exploring American value systems and our notions of home, security and community."
