CCAI CAP Awards Announced!

CCAI is delighted and honored to announce its inaugural CAP Awards, established to acknowledge long-term supporters of CCAI and the arts in northern Nevada.

The inaugural CAP honorees are three of northern Nevada’s most passionate arts activists: Joe McCarthy, Andrea Moore, and Jim McCormick.

Each recipient will receive a limited edition cap embroidered with the initials “CAP” at a luncheon hosted at Carson City's classic American diner, The Cracker Box, on Friday February 9th at 1:30pm.

Proceeds from the ticketed event will support “CAP,” CCAI’s art in public program. The Cracker Box is located at 402 E. William Street, Carson City.

Joe McCarthy is Carson City’s Economic Development and Redevelopment Manager. Mr. McCarthy’s support of CCAI was critical to its early beginnings and to its continued growth and development. He comments: “The impact that CCAI has had on the culture of Carson City has been outstanding. CCAI has developed multiple relationships within community of Carson, building a stronger appreciation for the arts that is vital to the development of Carson City.”

Andrea Moore works as the Community Relations Coordinator for the Carson City Library. Ms. Moore: “The partnership between CCAI and Carson City Library provides a welcome opportunity for patrons to engage in an open dialogue of information and creative ideas. The spirit of CCAI encourages me and our community, and I am deeply committed to our successful collaboration.”

Jim McCormick, UNR Art Deparment Professor Emeritus, was CCAI’s first board president, and his generous contribution of time and support were instrumental in getting the organization ‘airborne’. States Mr. McCormick: “I have witnessed the growth of the ‘Initiative’ with genuine interest and enthusiasm. I believe it essential for the capital of our state to have a forward-looking and vibrant visual arts program. CCAI is on the right track.”
