Relic: Dominique Palladino

"Dominique Palladino is a sculptor/performance artist who recently graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Interested in the visceral and rich history of the formerly known hospital turned art center, Palladino relishes in the idea and duality of past and present, identity and placement, the sacred and the discarded, survival and surrender, and loss vs. gain. Rooted in her utilization of feminine symbology and bodily materials, Relic is a new body of work that explores Palladino’s level of relatedness to her surrounding environments by using the idea of ritual to interact with personal, surviving objects of something past; such as menstruation, animal remains, and artifacts from previous performance pieces. Relic displays an introspective strive to find comfort in an uncomfortable place."
