The New Deal in Nevada: 1933-1942
through November 28
"The exhibition showcases photographs, artifacts and manuscript materials that focus on Nevada’s role during the Great Depression. Featured exhibits will educate visitors about the politics of the New Deal, urban projects that benefited both Reno and Las Vegas, women’s roles and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).
There is also a series of crayon sketches done by a Civilian Conservation Corps artist documenting the CCC restoration of Fort Churchill.
“This year marks the 75th anniversary of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal and there is a national effort to recognize the role of the New Deal in the states,” said curator Mella Harmon. “The Historical Society created this exhibit to help people better understand how the Great Depression and government policies shaped Nevada’s history.”"

The outhouse in the background is a WPA "fly-proof privy."]
