CCAI CAP Mural Clean-up Day!
Saturday, July 12 was clean-up day for the alley north of 1801 North Carson Street that is home to CCAI's CAP Mural, "Lucky Riding," by Erik Burke and Yale Wolf.
Dedicated in fall 2006, the mural is a permanent feature of "CAP," CCAI's art in public program. From the original press release: "Local Carson City bicyclist Glenn Lucky is the inspiration for Mr. Burke's mural, not only because the artist is an avid cyclist, but also because of Mr. Lucky’s admirable determination and community engagement. Mr. Lucky has cerebral palsy, but he doesn’t let that stop him. He has ridden about 40 miles a day through heat, cold, rain and snow since he was 15 years old. What initially started as therapy to loosen his muscles has turned into his passion."
Members of CCAI's board and staff [l-r: Sharon, Glenn, Christina, Joan & Jay] spent part of their Saturday morning sprucing things up. We encourage you to come by to see this remarkable contribution to Carson City's urban landscape. [map]
