Virginia City
Gypsy Art Festival
June 6-7
June 6-7
"Come join artists from all over the region to celebrate Virginia City Sesquicentennial Celebration, 150 years old and still kicking. Virginia City was once the richest city in the world, alive with art, music and characters. Revived again in the 70’s when a gypsy enclave camped along 6 Mile Canyon to bring life back to the Comstock, the town again came to life with color and adventure.
It is in that spirit that St. Mary’s Art Center wants to celebrate the arts by hosting artists in all media to come and create in Virginia City.
Simply register by sending an e-mail and show up at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 6th and set-up in one of our studios, the front porch, the grassy front yard or spread out all over Virginia City to add color and art to the celebration. Artists will have all day Saturday to create and then join the celebration at 4 p.m. at the Center. Those staying over night are free to continue creating all day Sunday. Be a gypsy for the weekend, don’t be left out of all the fun."
