" ... open to anyone interested."
"Nevada Humanities offers grants of up to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations and government entities, such as libraries and schools, to fund public programs and educational programs in the humanities.
The next deadline for proposals is Oct. 10, 2009. Minigrant requests of up to $1,000 may be submitted at any time.
Nevada Humanities is especially interested in funding projects that promote community through various forms of engagement and that encourage conversation. This may be through face-to-face dialogue, such as lectures or panel and round-table discussions, but also through programs that stimulate thought and reflection, such as media productions, film screenings, exhibitions, local history projects and projects that explore local culture and Nevada's diverse heritage and unique places.
In addition to welcoming applications that explore a wide range of humanities topics, Nevada Humanities will have a special grant category for projects that explore themes in American history and heritage for the Oct. 10, 2009 deadline. Projects about Nevada history and heritage are encouraged, particularly if they link to larger national themes.
Nevada Humanities is one of 56 state and territorial humanities councils affiliated with the National Endowment for the Humanities. With offices in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada Humanities creates public programs and supports public projects statewide that define the Nevada experience and facilitate the exploration of issues that matter to Nevadans and their communities."
Free to the public.
