Food Security | International Migration

Conference Topics:

Causes of migration: Are poverty and hunger important causes of migration flows in the Americas?
Relevance of safety nets: What is the impact of social safety nets to address poverty and hunger on reducing migratory flows from poor areas in the region?

Remittances: Have migrant remittances acted as important social safety nets, preventing nutritional deterioration among beneficiaries of such cash flows in the Americas?

Climate change: By increasing the recurrence of natural disasters such as droughts and floods, which destroy harvests and alter production cycles, does climate change also intensify poverty and hunger in the Western Hemisphere?
